I have limited space in my home and I don't have a designated office room with fancy French doors. As you open the front door you just end up in the living room, there's no foyer or hall to separate the entrance from the rest of the house. I've waffled for several years as to what to do with that weird area and now with working from home 24/7, I've been forced to make a decision. Working out of my dining area no longer sufficed, my back was killing me and I needed a space that I could call "work". My challenge was how to make the area look welcoming when not in use, yet be functional for my work needs. I didn't want to end up coming through the front door and seeing an office setting because that's awkward.

So ta-dah! My new office/slash hallwayish area. All the pieces that are in this area are listed below. Hopefully this inspires you and whatever odd spaces you are looking to optimize. The only thing I have left is to put up some photos and an area rug.
